Fans of the Dark-Hunter series now have a "bible" for the incredibly complex world Sherrilyn Kenyon has created.  With the series coming up on twelve books, the Companion is a great reference tool to keep track of all the major players in the Dark-Hunter universe.  A few highlights of the book for me were Kenyon's explanation of the Atlantean pantheon.  It was really interesting to see the Atlantis mythos expanded upon.  You could almost believe that it was once a real place.     We also got a small glimpse into Ash's past, a real teaser to get you even more excited for the release of Acheron in August. There were a few things that seemed superfluous to me like the lesson on modern Greek lifestyles.  To me it really did not seem to tie into the Dark-Hunter world at all.  It would have been much more interesting to learn about ancient Greek social customs, since many of the Dark-Hunters came from ancient Greece.  There's also a section devoted to all the fictional and real life locations in New Orleans that the Dark-Hunters inhabit which did not hold much interest for me since I am not from New Orleans nor do I plan on visiting any time soon.  I ended up skimming through both parts of these sections in the book because they were not that relevant to me. 

The Companion is a wealth of information on the world of the Dark-Hunters and it is a book that I will be holding onto so that when a character from one of the early books is mentioned I can then look them up to refresh my memory.  It's nice to have such a great reference book.  Dark-Hunter fans should definitely pick this one up.
